The entire video game market (including games, consoles, and accessories) is down 21% from last year, likely due to the fact that the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii are all at or around the age that their predecessors were replaced. Market researchers claim to be surprised by the dip in sales, citing that such quality titles as Modern Warfare 3 and Just Dance 3 topped the charts for the year. As a semi-biased consumer, it is my opinion that the target market may be wising up to re-releases and is simply expecting more out of games than the same game with a few new elements. That being said, game sales alone dropped by only 14%, while consoles fell a staggering 28% (with accessories at 27% decrease). Click the pic!
